Mickey Hart Band Announces Album And Tour

MICKEY HART ANNOUNCES ALBUM AND TOUR
“TEA LEAF TRIO” TO OPEN MANY SHOWS

Steal your face, right off, Mickey Hart’s head? The Grateful Dead drummer is taking expression to a whole new level with the release of his new album Superorganism and the Mickey Hart Band tour to follow. Hart has been working with UCSF Professor Dr. Adam Gazzalley for over a year to sonify the sounds of his brain waves, stem cells, and heart rhythms for the new album. According to Hart, “The brain, Rhythm Central, the place of dreams is explored. My Brain wave signals are reimagined in sound using a cap with electrodes that can read the throbs and signals of the brain.”

To be witness to the Mickey Hart deep brain exploration, you can catch the band on tour starting August 1st in Healdsburg, CA. Each night of the tour, Hart will be wearing an EEG cap, so you will, literally, be able to see his brain activity on screen – while listening to the sounds of his own brain.

The album will feature lyrics by Robert Hunter, and many special guest musicians. The band recently released three free live tracks from their March 6 show in Solana Beach, CA including the brand new song, “The Sermon”, featuring lyrics by Hunter. “The Sermon”, along with Grateful Dead classics “Ramble On Rose” and “Playing in the Band”, is available at http://www.mickeyhart.net/download.

Also of note, Tea Leaf Trio will support the majority of the tour which features Trevor Garrod, Reed Mathis, and Cochrane McMillan of Tea Leaf Green. Bassist Mathis will be performing double duties each night, performing with Tea Leaf Trio and the Mickey Hart Band.
